This photographic study entitled “Body and Soul” explores the remarkable grace and beauty of dancers in motion. The images capture the importance of the artistic aesthetic, the emotive power, and the grace of the bodies of each dancer, specifically capturing both the body and the soul of each dancer. The juxtaposition of the dancer's grace with their athleticism is a fascinating concept that I explore within each image. Further, in capturing these creative moments, I gained insight into the dancers themselves and was able to convey their inner passion through the beauty of their movements and process. Every pose is a testament to their diligent work, the strength and beauty of the human body, and the exquisite nature of dance. I was honored to work with dancers from Sidra Bell, Martha Graham, Paul Taylor, Alvin Ailey, the American Ballet Theater, and various additional dancers in creating this body of work.
